An extremely fine, rare and large Rolex stainless steel automatic triple calendar wristwatch with moon phases, Ref. 8171, circa 1950. The so-called “Padellone” watch was been produced only for three years from 1949 to 1952. The watch case is 37mm with a snap back. It is one of the most complicated references Rolex ever produced, along with the Dato-Compax triple-calendar chronograph models. It is also one of the largest watches ever made by Rolex and is automatic.
